Canada Ban to Wear Burkas at only Citizenship Ceremonies

Canada Ban Burkas Citizenship- On Monday 12th December 2011, Canadian Immigration placed a ban on wearing burkas or any other face coverings like hijab and islamic niqab while taking oath for citizenship during citizenship ceremonies. Canadian Immigration minister Jason Kenney announced the new law while talking to cultural groups on Monday.

The new law, which requires oath-takers to show their entire face, takes effect immediately. This new rule is also a latest addition in a string of changes to Canada's immigration process under the Conservative government.The reaction from two prominent Muslim groups is mixed as some welcomes the announcement while others are against it. The denounced ones thought this decision can cause unnecessary agitation in the Muslim community.
