Samuel L. Jackson Afro Samurai- Samuel L. Jackson, who provided the voice for the lead character in Gonzo’s Afro Samurai anime, is going to star in a live-action film based on the anime series and the manga created by Takashi Okazaki. Jackson considers the saga of the lone samurai seeking to avenge the death of his father at the hands of gunslinger named Justice, “one of my very favorite properties ever since our original debut at Comic-Con with the original series pilot out of Japan.”
According to Variety, the Indomina Group and Gonzo Studios, which are producing the film, hope to hire a writer and director this summer and complete casting by the end of the year. The live-action Afro Samurai is slated to be shot at Pinewood Indomina Studios in the Dominican Republic in 2012.
